A café till that keeps up with the 8am queue.
Fourteen people deep, half of them wanting oat milk, and the card machine is the slowest thing in the room. This is the part of the day the software has to earn its money.
No card. Cancel in one click. Runs in a browser on hardware you already own.
The same thing, on screen.
Filmed off the real product, not a mockup. Sound on — there is a voice explaining what you are looking at.
Swipe sideways for the rest.
One café morning, step by step.
Every step below happens inside DineHopper. Nothing is typed in twice, and nothing is handed to another app.
Each change adds its own price, so the total on screen is already right.
Coffee gets its own screen, on a tablet you already have. No printed dockets.
No app and no paper card. Nothing for them or your staff to remember.
Your own ordering page. No commission, and the customer stays yours.
Counted against expected, with a name on it. Nobody guesses tomorrow morning.
The six you will open every day.
There are seventeen modules in DineHopper. These six are the ones a café will open daily. The other eleven are in there too and sit quietly until you want them.
- POS Terminal — fast tiles, modifiers priced on the item, and it keeps taking cash when the internet drops
- Kitchen Display — a separate screen for coffee, so the barista never sees a lunch order
- Hopper Rewards — repeat visits tracked on the card they already paid with
- Website — your own pre-order and pickup page, no commission on your own orders
- Retail Till — sell beans, cups, merch, bakery and chemist counter items by each or by weight, with a barcode scanner
- Team & wages — rosters and timesheets for a team of casuals who swap shifts
- Wholesale — supply offices and other cafés on account, with trade prices, invoices and statements
How does a free POS make money?
Out of your card payments. A POS that costs nothing up front usually takes about 1.5% of every card sale instead. On $20,000 a month in card takings that is roughly $300 a month, and it comes out whether you used the software that month or not.
We do it the other way round. One flat monthly price, from $89 ex GST. Bring your own terminal and we take nothing from your card takings, and no commission on your own online orders. Want one provider for everything? DineHopper Payments adds 0.30% to the processing cost. Who processes your cards stays your decision.
What cafés ask us.
We only need the till. Do we have to pay for the rest?
No. Lite is $89/mo ex GST for one register, and the modules you do not turn on do not cost anything. Nothing here is billed per module you ignore.
Our staff turn over constantly. How long does training take?
The till is a tile grid and a cart. In practice a new casual is taking orders in a shift. Voids, comps and refunds need a manager PIN, so the things that cost money are the things that need someone senior.
What happens when the internet goes down mid-rush?
Cash sales and cards keyed on the card machine keep going offline and sync when the connection returns. Dockets, receipts and the cash drawer still work, and tills on the same WiFi still see each other's tables and bills. Refunds need a connection.
It is the same system either way.
These pages only change which parts get talked about first.
